How to Blog

Is there a correct way to blog? I have often wondered myself. According to a ask.com article I read recently, there are 10 "rules" of blogging. I don't know if I agree with all of them but these are some of the key points I think new bloggers, especially students need to remember: 1. Write about what matters to you. How else will you be passionate about what you are writing about and expect others to follow along. Blah posts are just that, blah, and I will look right past them, but if a blogger has a passion and I can feel that passion in their writing, I am much more likely to respond. Not on the list: 2. Remember your own voice. Blogging is like talking or journaling. It does not have to be formal and shouldn't be. 3. Be safe, moderate your comments and represent yourself properly online. Never let comments fly, always review your comments as these comments will represent you when others look at your blog. 4. Do edit yourself, read your blogs and use spell check. There is nothing worse than having someone reply to your blog to let you know you spelled something wrong and trust me, they are out there. 5. Descriptive headlines! How else I am I going to know exactly what I am reading about, like a newspaper, blog titles draw you in, so be descriptive.

  1. I agree with you because it is exactly like journaling and talking because you are typing what you want and what you learned. And you are putting what you said into your own words. I also agree with you when you said there is people out there that want to try and make you look bad by look for any spelling mistakes.

  4. I agree that there is no correct way of writing a blog because you need to just be yourself and not be a big old robot. (Rule #2) I think that if there was a correct way of writing a blog everyone would be writing like a robot and not using their own voice. It would be like an essay if there was a correct way of writing a blog. I also agree with the Descriptive headlines rule because nobody wants to read a boring blog, straight up saying facts without any details and being fun about the subject. Rule #3 I don’t really agree with because I don’t think it’s that bad to post a picture of yourself on the internet, but to put bad writing and mean comments that is mean. Overall, I agree with most of Mrs. Hegstroms Blog incept for Rule #3 just a little bit. But obviously being safe online is big point to consider while your blogging so I won’t forget that!

  14. I think the most important rules are write about what matters to you, remember your own voice and edit yourself. I think those are the most important because if you use those than you can be a successful blogger. If you write about what matters to you than you will know what you are talking about and you won’t get board of your topic. If you remember your own voice than you will be fluent with your words. If you edit yourself than you wont have as many errors.

  15. Blogs should represent you and what you want to talk about. They shouldn’t be just a random thing to do from time to time I think if you make a blog you should be passionate about what it is. I think this because; I wouldn’t want to read something that doesn’t have any meaning to it. So I do agree that you should write about what matters to you. Another point that I agree with is to be safe, your blog represents you as a person and I don’t think anyone would want negative comments on their blogs so I think people should look over their comments. Another point I agree with that fact that you should hear your own voice, I think this because you don’t want to be seen as a boring person I think if you put you tone of voice in to your writing that you are passionate about then it gives more personality. Also, I agree that you should edit your blog before posting them because I know I wouldn’t want to like silly and make spelling mistakes but, we all do so it is very important to edit. The point that I most agree with is descriptive headlines because I don’t want to read something if I don’t understand what it is about. So, I agree with everything you stated about blog I think it is very important to follow these “rules” of blogging.

  16. I agree with everything you have said about blogging those are a lot of important points that you need to know by being a blogger. I agree with the first rule because writing what’s important to you is really important because if it’s not important to you why take the time to right it. The second thing you said about remembering you own voice is very important to because it doesn’t matter if it proper or not is should just be you voice telling people what is important to you. Number 5 Descriptive headlines are also very important the people have to know what your blog is about in order to want to read it or not. Those numbers are the most important to me.

  17. I agree with Mrs. Hegstrom I don’t think there is a correct way to blog, I think that you just need to be yourself but in a professional way. I think that the most important one would be like Mrs. Hegstrom said to be you. I think this is really important because if your blog isn’t about something you love and are passionate about you won’t want to keep doing it. You will think it’s more like a chore than for fun. Also, I think worst of all is nobody will read it because if you don’t love what you are doing it will show in the work that you put out in a blog. My second most important thing would be to be safe on the internet. I think it’s important because there are a lot of bad people out there in the world that will do some mean and bad stuff. I know this is sad to think about but sadly we all know it’s true. So, always make sure to monitor everything and don’t give out any personal information. These are my two most important points and there are so many other ones out there but the number one is to have fun and just go with it.

  18. I don’t think that there is a “correct” way to blog, but there are ways to keep your blogging to reasonable criteria. It is like writing a response, or a story that matters to you and you put the information that you think is important, but keep it presentable and to not “leak” of give your “Digital identity” away for the world to see. Blogging is what you think, what you feel, things that could maybe be changed or debated. For you, what you say or think it is your limit. I agree with the 5 rules you have composed, I feel that these rules are that “basis” or things you should definitely consider when Blogging. Follow your thoughts, type information that you think supports that post. The blogging world is like a “playground”, or place where the world is able to access your post, following your thoughts and ideas is what it’s all about, it’s your comment but remember to make it “suitable”, viewable and appropriate by just remembering the rules that keep you safe while Blogging.

  19. I agree with the “rules of blogging”. I think it is important to follow them in a blog. For example, writing with a passion. If there wasn’t any passion in the writing, than what’s the point of it? If you aren’t really interested in what you’re saying, it gets boring. You have to be able to enjoy it. Editing yourself, another important part of writing. You should always go back to check for spelling mistakes, that way you aren’t getting comments about your errors, rather than what you did right.

  20. i agree with almost everything on ths post. what i dont agree with is that you say "it doesnt have to be formal" i think in some cases that it does because what if you re applying for a job and they check your blog they are gonna see that its not that formal and that can effect you probobly not in a big way but i think its still iportant.what i agree the most with is that number three that, that you should be safe with your posts and blogs and represent your self properly and i think this is most important, again because its related to the formal idea.also number 5 i agree, with its saying "Descriptive headlines" because you wasnt to keep people interested in your blog and so they know what they are reading about.also that it will bring in more people to your blog.i also agree with number 4 because you want to make your blog look nice and not have spelling errors everywhere.

  21. I think that there isn’t a way to sum up what you need to pay attention to in blogging only ten rules; especially with a few of them easily being combinable. The most important to me would be “do edit yourself.” It doesn’t matter as much what you’re saying if the readers can’t understand it. Grammar is another important part of that, it’s harder to read, and pay attention to that when all you notice is the lower-case I’s all over the place. The second important thing is, while I agree writing about what matters to you, the tone of voice is just as important. If when a reader starts to read what you wrote and gets bored right from the first few words, then they won’t even care what you’re talking about. They would have left the page already. Being safe is definitely number three. Not everyone thinks of protecting themselves when blogging, and that’s a bad thing. The fourth thing would have to be writing about what matters to you. While I don’t think it’s the most important thing to worry about, it’s still important for the blogger. It’s likely that the topic would get boring and they would stop blogging themselves, even if they do get any readers. The last most important thing would be descriptive headlines. Not only knowing what the post is about, but having other people find and read it if they’re interesting into the same topic is better than them being confused because it was titled something strange.

  22. I agree with most of the things that you have mentioned about blogging. I think that being safe and writing about what matters to you is the most is important to me.
Being safe is important because, say if you write your whole name, where you live, and you even put a picture up of yourself then that is absolutely not safe at all because you never know who read that, who will read it and there is plenty of bad things that people could do and it just isn’t right.
Writing about what matters to you is also important to me because if you are blogging about something you’re not really interested in then it may get boring, and others will not be interested to read it or reply. And you also may get bored with writing about something that you’re not even that interested in too! If you blog about things you really are interested in then others may have the same interests and they will most likely read it and reply.

  24. I do understand what you’re trying to say, like the spelling check or have a headline. But I think people should blog the way they want, not because an article on yahoo said. Because I think there is no right way to blog. Maybe some people would purposely spell something wrong for example, like how people text. Sometimes people may not have a headline because if they saw the title of your blog they wouldn’t check it out. So if they don’t know what it’s about so when they already start reading it they will read. more. But thing I agree most with is be safe.

  28. I agree with blogging rule one of the ten blogging rules and blogging rule 1 sates: write what people are passionate about. I think that’s very important because you don’t want to be just writing about boring stuff that no one cares about. Also you want so flavor and interesting things in your blog to attract people. Also I think blogging rule 8 is import and it says so mix your blog up and change the format and add pictures and I think that is important because you want to spice it up a bit and you don’t want to be the same old same old. But some of the rules seem the same because blogging rule number 8 and 4 they both seem like they are saying the same things like spice it up and don’t make it boring.

  29. I don’t think that there’s a right way to blog. I mean there’s lots of do’s and don’ts when you blog but beside that there is no right and wrong way to blog. I think that when you blog you should always write about what you love to do in your everyday life pretty much cause if you don’t, you really shouldn’t be blogging. One thing that I think is important to have in mind is that there is no “rules” in blogging. Your blog is you. And I think that if you are going to blog, you should write as if you were righting something for you, and if you do, I think people will like you post.

I have recently read this article about the “rules” of blogging. Yes, I think that there are some good things that are in there, but some things that I think are not necessary. The last rule in this article I thought was very important. Don’t sweat it, that’s all I have to say for that “rule”. Blogging should not be stressful at all, your blog is your thing, and you chose to do it, enjoy it.

  31. Upon reading my copy of "The 10 Rules of Blogging", I think that, while there is no way to write a perfect blog, there are many ways to make a blog better. For example, Rule #1 is the most important rule I follow, because it allows you to find an audience! If you write about what gets people excited, there is a better possibility that more people will start to follow your blog. Remember, if they have friends that follow some of the same things they do, it could mean more readers for your blog. You could get a big audience rather fast, all because of word of mouth!
Another one of my favorite rules is rule #5. You want more people to comment about the main subject, not because you made an embarrassing typo in sentence 4 of paragraph 3! #6 is also a good rule of you want more people to understand your blog entries. Some people might not be able to understand them if they aren’t clean! If it’s easy to read, it would probably be easy to understand.

  32. I agree with many of these rules. The first one I agree with writing what matters to you. If you do write what you like, you’ll have this type of writing that you won’t be able to express if you don’t write what you like and that’s why I visit some blogs that I like, because I can tell that they really enjoy what they are writing and that’s exactly how I feel to about that topic too. One rule that I don’t entirely agree with is don’t use the same format in every post, because sometimes if you use different formats every time your blog may get out of hand and your readers may not be able to concentrate with all your different fonts which clashes with rule 6, don’t forget basic principles of a good layout.

  33. What is the correct way to blog? After reading the article and different websites, I found out that there are ten basic rules to blog correctly. I agree with most of the blog post but I don’t think I agree with all of them. Some of the rules that I agree with are rule number 1 because you write about what matters to you and what you like. If you blog about what you like, it is more interesting for other bloggers to see what you are interested in. Another big rule is to self check your work because no one wants to see miss spelled words it looks bad. Make your blog interesting and fun for people, not boring!

Indeed the ask.com article states that there are 10 “rules” to blogging, but that doesn’t mean they have to be followed. Some of them are true to some people and some of them are false to others, people have their own opinions, and are entitled to them. Just like #1 sais(Do write about what matters to you), you can’t have a good post if you don’t have a passion for what you write, then no one will pay attention to your post. Also if you don’t go back and edit yourself (#3), then you could make a big mistake in spelling or something else, like typing a word that you didn’t want there. REMEMBER THIS!: Once you post something on the internet, you can’t take it back.

  41. I think that there are only a few things that you should know when you blog. One thing that people should know is when you blogging make sure that you do not add any old phrases; it could turn the people off and make them go to another website. Also to make it easier on the reader you should use line breaks between paragraphs, use sub heads, even add italics to make something stick out. One of the most important rules I think is, write about something that you like and are passionate about; you are more likely to stay with that topic for a longer period of time. Those are the rules/things that I think you should know when you are blogging.

I think this article gives good information about a blog. But you should not take this article to the point when you are typing your blog you have to check every single rule. The last rule in this article I thought was very important. Don’t sweat it, that’s all I have to say for that “rule”. Blogging should not be stressful at all, your blog is your thing, and you chose to do it, enjoy it.

  45. I agree with nine out of the "ten rules." The one i don’t agree with is the one where it says use "basic principles”, because that makes me think of it more of a book then a blog. The one I think is one of the best rules is the use list because it’s short to read, and people are less likely to skim. I think the top three rules are is first rule, “write what matters to you,” the “use list,” and the don’t sweat it one because if your relaxed when you’re writing, you’ll probably talk about what you like most with being nervous with what other people have to say. I’m not sure if I agree with the rule, of “don’t use the same format every time,” because somebody could really like one format, like how somebody could like one actors movie but not another.

  48. There are a lot of rules for blogging on the internet and I think one of the most important one of these rules is, right about what matters to you. I agree with this rule because you should always right about what matters to you, because if you right about something you like then it’s easier to blog because you will be interested in you blog and won’t stop writing about it after a few days. If you Wright about something you don’t like then the blog post won’t sound interesting and people won’t respond to it. Which brings me to the other rule I think is important to, it’s don’t take a too-formal tone. I think this rule is important because if you’re not interested in what you’re writing about then you blog will sound boring and no one will get hooked onto your blog. Another rule that is important to do while blogging is spell check yourself before you press publish now. This rule is important because a lot of people will only comment on your blog if you write things wrong and they only want to annoy you. Another rule I think is important is use list because most of the people who will read your blog will only skim over it and they won’t actually read the whole thing, so if you use list then they can read the sub titles and read some parts of the list. The last rule I think is important is don’t use the same format for every post. After a while if you keep doing the same format then people will start thinking its boring and stop following your blogs.

  49. In my opinion, this article about blogging on ask.com is completely true. By far what I think is the most important is number 1 on the article: Do write about what matters to you. I think this statement captures the whole purpose of blogging. If you write about something that does not interest you whatsoever, your blogs will reflect that and be boring. However, if you write about something you are passionate about; other people will notice your blog and want to respond if they feel the same. Next, I believe another extremely important item on this article is number 9: Do create descriptive headlines that let readers know what to expect from your posts. I think this decreases the chance that people will be confused because of what they read because they know what they will be reading. In addition, a good title can grab a reader’s attention and make them want to read your post. Finally, I think this article is a good way to learn how to blog and provides useful information for new bloggers.

  50. I think a lot of those are true. My favorite is definitely being passionate about what you are writing. I think so because you’re not going to get excited it’s not going to get you to get deep in the subject and other fellow bloggers won't get very interested in your blog. Another important rule is to edit you. If you don't and you spell some things wrong there will be people out there who just comment about how you spelt stuff wrong. Also you will represent yourself much better if everything is edited and correct. My least favorite one s doesn’t use tired clichés. If you use tired clichés people will get very bored because everybody knows that those cheesy little sayings can get SUPER boring! As a conclusion I really think there are some rules to blogging if you want people to follow you and your blog to be very successful.

  51. When you are blogging, I think that it is important to write about what you are passionate about, if you don’t, you will get bored of blogging and you won’t enjoy it as much. Also, you shouldn’t make the blog post too formal; make it casual for others to read. But do edit yourself and click Spell Check before posting. When other people read your blog, you want to make the impression that you are professional. Another important thing about blogging is to lay out the post so it is easy to read, and don’t use the same layout in every post; it can get boring sometimes. Finally, use descriptive headlines. Most people pick which blog they will read according to how interesting the title is.

  52. I thought that How To Blog had really helpful and useful knowledge. The two most important things I thought were to write about what matters to you. Nobody wants to hear about how much you hate something, we would want to hear and blog about something you love to do or to talk about. Another thing I thought was a very helpful tip was to edit your work. What you are saying and posting on other peoples blogs is representing you and I think what you choose to say is important. This whole blog is a very useful thing because in the world there are a lot of people who like to criticize other peoples work. If you follow these simple guide lines your blog will be perfect! The next thing I agree with is that you shouldn’t use the same format in every post because people following your blog won’t be as interested in your same old format. How To Blog says to mix it up and to keep your followers interested and wondering what you’re going to do next! Overall I really agree with everything this post says!

  53. I think that the article on ask.com with the 10 questions had good reasoning. But, definitely not the main ones that are really important. I do think that there is a way to blog well, as in be able to express yourself, using your spell check, and having good layout. But I disagree with the blog not being a book, because it’s not really a diary and shouldn’t be used that way, but you can express yourself and such, so maybe you should give it an effort of personal thought? So. Question 1- I think that writing about what matters to you is a good idea, but not that it matters, but that its true to you, and maybe it’s something. 2- Taking it to too-formal? I feel like if you’re a very formal person, then clearly you are just going to write like that, and there is obviously more people out there that would comment the same. But, we all really should have a voice when typing. 7- I think having a good list to catch a readers eye is good because if you just have all words that are lengthy, who is really going to sit there and read it? It does need to be interesting. So to conclude with that I also think there should be nice headings too!

  54. Blogging has 10 rules according to an article I read on ask.com. Many of the rules I agree with, but a few I don’t. One of the ‘rules’ that I agree with is “Do write what matters to you”. If what you are writing about doesn’t interest you, then most likely it won’t interest others. I can tell when someone loves what they’re writing about because it shows in there writing. 2 Don’t use the same format in every post. It’s always good to mix it up a bit. Make sure you do something different every once in a while. You can even add images to your blog to make it more exciting and explainable. 3. Don’t use tired clichés. Keep using those boring phrases and people won’t read your blog’s. Make sure you use a new phrase every once in a while, nobody likes to here the same thing each day!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I agree with all of the rules about blogging. I think that all of the rules are important, but I think the most important rule of blogging is to write about what you care about. Why bother writing something if it doesn’t matter to you? If you write about what you care about, it will be a lot more interesting. I think it is also very important to edit your posts. When people read your blog, they are thinking about what kind of a person you are. You want to represent yourself in a good way online. Another important rule is to spell check your posts. You also don’t want to have a bunch of spelling mistakes and errors in your posts.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I do believe there is a correct way to blog. I have just read an article with ten important tips to remember when your blogging. I agree with most of the tips. I agree with number 3 the most. I think that this rule is really important to remember especially if you’re an adult or teacher. Number 3 says that you should always edit yourself. You should edit yourself all the time because if you don’t then you make a mistake and other people could reply back to you just to tell you that you made a mistake and that would get pretty annoying. The next one that I agree with is number 8. It says that you shouldn’t use the same format in every post. If you did always use the same format, what you’re saying wouldn’t be as exciting and then it would make people not want to read it, and the next tip that I agree with is number 4. Number 4 says that you should use tired clichés. A cliché is a phrase that has been coined for so long that it has become boring. If you always use clichés your writing will be really boring and some of the clichés that you use might be kind of annoying or boring and people won’t post back to you anymore.

  57. I think that this article about blogging can be pretty helpful. I think that there are lots of good tips about blogging. One of the good and useful tips was DO write about what matters to you. This is defiantly important, because if you want to make your blog totally popular and others to love it, then you’ve got to enjoy the topic you’re blogging about. I also liked number 2, which was DON’T take a too-formal tone. I think this is helpful because it lets your voice shine and it keeps the reader more interested. In my opinion, number 3 is the most important tip!!!! Do you agree? I mean, it says DO edit yourself, and that helps you a lot. There are a lot of people in this world that would go “Ooooo! She thinks that…” and will start posting bad stuff about you. This is why you should be careful, and also monitor your comments. #5: Spell check. Your not texting your friend. Be wise!!! #6: DON’T forget the principles of a good text layout. In other words, use different tools to help emphasize your voice.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I think that an important point in a blog is to write about topics that you are passionate about. It is easier to talk about things that you enjoy. Another important point in blogging is to edit your own writing. You have to make it short; don’t make it a 3 page blog, max ½ - 1 page. Not to mention that people are going to point out your flaws. In addition, you should edit and spell check your posts before you click the “publish now” button. So, if you are going to take the time to edit your posts than you must make sure that it is in fact readable. It is also important to include a descriptive headline that lets viewers know what to expect from your post. However, this means you cannot go off topic! So, in conclusion, blogging can be a fun way to find out more information about topics that you care about, but you have to do the work first.

  59. I think that it is important to blog about what matters to you. If you blog about what matters to you, you will find that you will blog more often. You will also have more passion for the subject you are blogging about. I think it is also important to remember basic text layout. It will be easier for your readers to read the blogs you post if they are formatted in a way that people can see clearly. I think using lists is also a good idea. If you put the most important pieces of the blog in a list, people will pay more attention to those lists than reading the long paragraphs you post. Having creative titles and headings is important because it will bring interested readers to you. If you have a title that is boring and looks boring, people will most likely leave it alone and not read it, but if you have a title that catches people’s eye, those people will be more likely to read and comment back about that post.

That article you wrote about is very helpful if you are a new blogger and I know I just found out about blogging this year and I think that most of that stuff on the article is either common sense or really helpful maybe there is 1 or 2 rules can be taken away. Maybe you could think of 1 to add but I think it is your opinion. My opinion is that this article has some very helpful stuff and some stuff that is just common sense. The rule I found most helpful for me was #5. number five say DO spell check your post before you click “publish now.” And if you can’t spell like me I would fallow that rule.

  65. I agree with this blog on how to blog. I feel that all of these guidelines will help you become a better and more professional blogger. I believe that the rule “Do Edit Yourself” is important because it is your blog and you can do what you want and write about what you want in it.
I also like the rule called “Don’t use the same format in every post” I feel this is important because if all of your blog posts look the same, your readers will get bored and maybe not view the blog page anymore.
Another tip I agree with in the article is the one called “Do create descriptive headlines that let readers know what to expect from your posts” I like this guideline because if you don’t verify what your post is about, it may not be read because it doesnt tell your readers clearly what the post is about.

  66. Blogs are a great way to share your ideas and connect with people who share the same interests. I agree with you when you say that blogging only has meaning and importance to it when you have passion and your own voice. Like you said, if you can feel someone’s passion through their writing and they are keeping you interested, then they are writing a great blog. I disagree a little bit when you say a blog cannot take on a too-formal tone because maybe that’s just how someone writes. They naturally write more formal and proper than how they talk and that’s just their own voice. I also agree with you when you say to be safe and moderate your comments because how you are being reviewed by others, whether it be positive or negative, is how you are represented online. You want to have positive and useful comments following your blog, not swear-ridden comments or spelling or grammar check comments. However, you can reduce the amount of grammar or spelling check comments by simply checking your work and making sure there are no mistakes. You want people to get the true message of your blog, and not focus on the silly mistakes.

  67. I agree with your post on how to blog. One of the steps that was important to me is that don’t use tired clichés. The reason why I thought it was important is because I thought of being a viewer on someone’s blog using the boring phrases such as “right as rain.” then thinking man that is just lame I think in order to be a good blogger you need to be unique and spice it up a bit and speak your voice. Also, I do agree with you saying you should edit it before you post it. The reason I agree with you should edit it before you post it is because some people are grammar Nazis, so you have to be careful.

  68. I agree with the blog post on blogging about some of these things that I think were the most important things on the list, such as you should write about what YOU want to, and make sure that you don’t sound bored, you should create good, descriptive headlines that tell everyone what your blog is about you should use lists, so that people know what is the most important on the blog and people who are skimming see what you want them to see. Finally, you should try not to use the same format every time, so the people who look at your posts often don’t get bored. Some things that weren’t in the blog post that I think should have been were that you should moderate posts, such as if people are saying stuff that you don’t want on your blog to be seen by everybody.

  69. I think that this paper offers a lot of good ideas about blogging, but I think they should be used as guidelines rather and then a set of rules. Do you remember when your mom or dad told you not to d something? You went ahead and did it two seconds after they said it right. So I think more people would be willing to follow them if it was more like tips than rules. This list had great tips on blogging that I would definitely follow while blogging. I though the one that was most important was to write what matters to you. You can’t think about what other people think about your opinions. They’re your opinions, not everyone else’s. Another useful tip was Don’t Sweat It. When I looked at the title, I thought it was talking about people going on your blog and giving you bad feedback, I was wrong. It says to not let the guidelines mess you up, which is true, but I think that it should have had something about when people give you bad feedback. You can’t let people put you down on things that you are passionate about or you will never have a great blog. I also liked number two; number two says to not take a too formal tone. I think that this is one-hundred percent right but it is also a good idea to still be professional on your blog.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I agree with this blog, you really should moderate your comments. You really want to have all the comments that people post sent to your email. You also should really be passionate about your writing, so then you will attract more readers, you don’t want someone to get bored reading your blog. Another thing I agree with is writing your blogs in word and then copying and pasting them onto the internet, it would be a drag to have a teacher come and say that you misspelled something instead of having them leave their opinion or something that you can build off of. You would really want someone to leave their honest opinion so you have something to keep in mind for your next blog, or some information that could really help in learning about technology.

  71. I agree with the post, on how to blog. I think it’s always important to be yourself and to write from your perspective. When you blog, it should be about something you’re familiar with and passionate about. When you don’t write about something you know people can tell you aren’t using your voice and expressing how you feel. Also, it’s always important to edit your work and to make sure nothing is wrong or misspelled. When you put something out on the internet, it’s always there. You also have to watch what you say; you’re representing yourself behind a computer screen. Important things to have are good, descriptive titles to grab the reader’s attention and make them want to hear what you have to say.

  72. I do agree with that blog on HOW to blog. I definitely agree that what you write about must matter to you. Some people may not like what your blogging about but if you really care about what you have blogged about. But I do think that spelling and grammatical errors appear a lot in everyone’s post no-matter what you can do you could always have someone comment on your mistakes. I think that’s very sad that some people feel the need to do that though. But I did find one in your post. Aren’t you supposed to but an, an? Were you put “a ask.com article?” and I’m not trying to be a troll, I personally don’t really care, but as you said there are some people who would do that in a blog.

  73. I definitely agree with the list on how to blog. I think that if there is one thing that they left out on the list, it was exactly what you said. You do need to represent yourself online and moderate your comments. You can’t have somebody come along and start swearing in a comment for the whole world to see on your blog. I definitely agree that you should write about what matters to you. I would never want to read about what someone was saying if they didn’t care about it. I too need to be passionate about what I am writing, or else I will not continue to write about it. On the list, it mentions that you need to edit yourself, which definitely pertains to me because I write too much whenever I write something, and I probably will end up having enough material for 2-3 blog posts when I am just trying to write one. One last point that the list made that really stood out to me was to keep writing. The article says, don’t let these guidelines keep you from blogging, and the most important thing is to keep writing. If you write with passion and conviction, you’ll be able to connect with other people, and your writing will improve every time you post. This is so very important when blogging, and should be taken into consideration when you are starting a new blog.

  74. I think that the 10 rules blogging are very important. These rules are very important and can help you become a good blogger. I agree with all of these rules, since I’m new to blogging they have helped me very much. You have to be able to follow some sort format and these rules lay all out for you. Some of the rules that I think are really important are:
    • Do edit yourself- this tells you that if you don’t edit you posts people might not understand them
    • Do write about what matters to you- if you are not writing something you are passionate about and love, then how are you going to get other people to be interested in that same subject
    • Do create descriptive headlines that let readers know what to expect from your posts- this allows you to be creative and lets people know what you’re trying to get through to them

  76. I agree with your post on the rules on blogging. I love how you say be yourself. I agree be yourself don’t be someone you’re not. Also I sort of don’t agree with the bullets but I say keep it short and sweet because no one wants to read a lot in a blog. Also I agree with editing your blog on word because you don’t want half of you comments being what you spelled wronged or this isn’t the right way to use this word. To me the most important rules are check you work, make it short and sweet and be yourself I don’t want to read some blog about someone who says there Hipster or Goth when I know there not. I want people to be there selves and share what they like and there personality it’s interesting to me. Also I could make a friend half way around the world because we both like skiing or swimming or whatever. Blogging is about telling people what you like and telling people who you are.

  77. I agree with the how to blog post. There are things you need to be careful about but other than that you can write and be passionate about whatever you want. When you’re blogging find your own voice and be yourself. When your blogging there are some rules I believe are really important.
1.) Be passionate about what you are writing about to make sure your post doesn’t get to boring and off topic.
2.) Don’t forget to edit. Make sure what you are writing is something that you would say and something that you will stand by if someone comments on it.
3.) Make sure you use spell check. Spelling errors are a big mistake when writing, but don’t worry we all do it! Just make sure that what you are writing is spelled correct and the grammar is perfect.
4.) Don’t sweat it. I believe this is one of the most important rules. Blogging is supposed to be fun and enjoyable. Don’t think of blogging as a school assignment, think of it as talking with your friends about things you like and enjoy. Share your opinions and what you know about the subject.
Just remember have fun and be yourself.

  78. I totally agree with you, the list does make good points about blogging. But it isn’t completely correct. Plus, it leaves out other good points. Basically it left out all the same ones that you said, so I think you’re right. One unparticular that I noticed that you said that really should’ve been on the list is that to be safe. I really agree with that because if one person harasses what you say then it will lead to a chain reaction of people correcting you. But now it leads to the other one I agree with which is to edit yourself, because if you don’t then people will harass you, which really does stink because now you feel like an idiot for not seeing that. Last thing I’m going to say is that being passionate does count; I believe that if you’re passionate about what you’re writing, then people will feel that passion and respect you for the fact that you are passionate. So, in conclusion I agree with the article but not completely. Like I said in the beginning it makes good points but it isn’t completely correct.

  79. I don’t believe there is an exact way you have to blog. I read the article about the “10 rules” of blogging and I agree and disagree with their thoughts about what a new student needs to know about blogging.
    1. Blogging about what is passionate to you is very important. How can you blog about something you don’t like or don’t even know about.
    2. Editing yourself is a major thing. There are going to be people that will read your blog and comment saying things about your spelling or grammar. So to fix that write your blog on word or a document that will spell check your writing and then copy and paste your final blog on the website.
    3. When people are reading your blog they like to skim through to find a certain subject. Use lists to make it easier for your reader to find the important parts of your post.
    4. Be creative. I agree that you should use an original post title when you are blogging.

  85. I agree with everything you said about how to blog but I think that there are some other key ideas that are probably important. 1. Don’t forget the basic principles of good text layouts because if the way you word something of how your paragraph looks or when someone reads it they get confused immediately it won’t interest anyone really and they will just leave. 2. Do use list. Most blog readers skim copy rather than read it all the way through. I agree with this one because there are some that do just want to skim and find the most important piece of your blog but I disagree at the same time because there are also the ones out there like me that want to read the whole thing. 3. Don’t use the same format in every post. This one is key to you and your followers because the way you set things up can express your personality. But I think the most important one is 4. Don’t sweat it. That is really important especially if you just starting off on blogging you just need some practice and if you do something wrong no one is going to hurt you.

  88. I agree with this blog because if what it says. I wouldn’t want to read a boring information blog I would want to read it like someone was talk to me. The 10 rules that are wrote I don’t believe all of them. The one rule I would fallow if I was blogging would be #10: “Don’t sweat it”. Why I like this so much is because it make sense to me when I know there’s someone else reading my blog I wouldn’t want them to think it was just and old information paper I would want them to keep on reading and enjoy my blog. Another rule I like is #8: “don’t use the format in every post” I like this rule because, don’t keep on typing about the same thing mix it up make it as interesting as you can. When someone starts reading in a paragraph later they think it’s the same information there going to stop reading and find another blog about the same thing that’s more interesting to them. The last rule I would fallow in my blog would be rule #1: “do write about what matters to you” the one reason why I like this rule is because if you write about your what you think is write someone could comment and tell you what is right and if you don’t think that was right there’s the internet where you can look up anything.

  89. I agree with the How To Blog because you definitely need to passionate about your blog because it really needs to come right from your heart and what you feel. If you don’t like dogs and you blog about dogs most likely your blog will not be very good or someone who likes dogs will think you are a negative person. Also you should be talking as if you are trying to get an A+ on a test and put the most fancy words you can think of, it should just flow as if you were talking to your best friend but typing, so I agree with #2 on How To Blog. You should definitely be safe with your blog and go over comments cause you never know what someone could that could get you into trouble, and how many people will comment on your blog and say “You spent this wrong.” Or “You put to many O’s in this.” So I agree with #’s 4 and 5. I agree with the blog How To Blog because it will really help new bloggers (like me) to become successful bloggers and really have fun with it, also this will give people who have been blogging tips to improve on their pieces so that others will like their blog.

  90. I agree about that you should right about what matters to you. I think that because if you don’t like what you are blogging about then your blog won’t be as easy and great to understand and it might be boring. I also like that you should self edit because if you write to much people will get bored and tired about what you are talking. I think it is true that you should make a headline because people won’t really want to read your blog because they might think it is boring not to know what you are reading about. I like how the article that you read was goof because it helps new bloggers like me to understand what will catch other people eyes to look at my blog. I also love that they are explain how a blog should really look like. Bloggers should spell edit because if they just type it and be over with that makes the author look like that they don’t care at all about what they are doing they just wanted to hurry up and finish this blog pot. Bloggers should always feel passionate because when you are typing you are expressing what you are feeling. I do have a question: When you are blogging your post are you always passionate? I want to make my blogs just like yours interesting to catch others eyes like it has caught mine today. I think that adding your own little idea was smart because it shows others that you’re looking over your work and understanding what you are blogging about so it gives me a further approach about your blog today really good blog.

  91. In this post on how to blog, I agree most with rule 1. (1. Write about what matters to you.) I agree most with this rule, because if you don’t write about what matters to you, then what’s the point. Your viewers won’t be interested in your blog post, if you’re not. You can’t expect people to follow your blog, is you’re not passionate about what you’re writing. The rule I secondly agree with is: Do Edit Yourself. I also agree with this rule, because how embarrassing would it be, to post a blog, and have every other word spelt wrong? So you need to spell check it, and read over it a few times, to make sure it makes sense and your punctuation is correct.

  92. In this blog I agree with most of these descriptive blogging tips. I agree very much with 1. Write what matters to you. Write what you want in your blog; just type your thoughts on to the paper. I also very much agree with number2. Remember your own voice. I also agree with number3. I think your blog should tell about your life but not contact information or personal details. I also agree with number 4. I think you should edit your blogs by yourself write as much as you want or even just write on sentence it’s not a language arts paper. I agree with number 5. too I think you should really have spell check because on a lot of blog sites they don’t have spell check and if you miss spell a word they might not understand blog.

  93. I Agree with your with your Article on How to blog. This tells people that you should write about something they very much enjoy or love because if they don’t they won’t be as passionate in there blogging and will not care as much. Everybody blogging should have a passion for what they are writing about and love it. So I think that remembering your voice is very important while blogging because you speak your thoughts confidently and proudly. I agree that in every blog you post you write you should edit yourself because if you are writing about something you really love and care about, why not put in the effort to make it look like you really care. Being descriptive is so important while you blog because it will hook your reader to read the rest of your post so they come back for more and more. Every Part about this is so important to young people and even old people to learn how to blog and get people interested in your opinions.

  94. I agree with this blog “How to blog”, there’s a way to blog correctly. I agree with it because I think you should write about what matters to you. If you’re writing about something that you’re not interested in, there is no way your readers get excited about it if you’re not. When you’re writing about something that you don’t like, or don’t really care about, no one is going to want to read it. Your best way to write a blog is to be excited about what you’re writing about. I also agree with this blog because on this list there are many good things. One thing I believe is important is to edit yourself. This is very important. I think this is very important because, imagine you’re reading a blog and there are a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes. You’re not going to want to read on once you seen that many spelling and grammar mistakes. Another reason I agree with this blog is because you should use descriptive headlines! If you’re blog is about Football, and your favorite team just won the super bowl, and you’re headline is just “Football”. People are going to be bored before they even read your article. These are some reasons that I very much agree with this blog!

  95. I agree with the blog post “how to blog.” I especially agree with the first rule (Write about what matters to you.) I feel like if you don’t do this, you really won’t even be interested in your blog and to get people’s attention online, you really want to be engaged in what you are writing about. I also like (remember your own voice) if you’re not writing the way you would normally talk your writing might sound drab and like you’re not interested in it. And if it’s a subject that you care about and love then you should be able to sound excited about what you wrote and want to show it off. Also, remember when you need to stop because if you go on and on about something with no correct punctuation or your off topic you’re going to lose your reader and they won’t be interested in your blog anymore. That also ties into (Edit your blog) you don’t want to make any mistakes and post it online for everyone to see. If it were my blog I would check for run on sentences, spelling, and punctuation. Lastly, I like the rule (protect yourself) I think this is one of the most important because if your blogging about something that happened to you, you don’t want to use any names. Also, this relates to “internet Safety” you need to be careful of what you say, do, or post online, because you can’t take it back and it can be dangerous to you if you don’t watch what you say.

  96. I agree with #1 because if you don’t write about what you like you won’t have fun with it. If I wrote about sports I would hate it, because I am not a fan of sports. But if I wrote about hedgehog I would love it, because hedgehogs are my favorite animal. But all of them are important too but I just think that this is more important than the others. But you don’t want to be formal, you don’t want to be boring, you always need to have correct grammar and spelling, and you need to remember your own voice in your blogs because then you just sound like a boring person who really doesn’t care.

  97. Yes, I agree with what you are saying. First off, number one, “write what matters to you”, if someone isn’t writing about something they enjoy or aren’t knowledgeable about how are people supposed to connect with a blogger who has no clue what they’re writing about. For example, if I chose to write about football, I hate watching, I don’t get it, and they only thing I know about it is that the Patriots play for Boston, and they quarter back is Tom Brady. If I chose to write a blog about this, it would have to no meaning to me so why would it have meaning and connections to people who are reading it. Another thing I am strongly agreeing about is “Don’t take a too formal tone”, if you are writing to readers of ages, let’s say between 14-40 and you’re writing like you’re writing for a book how is that fourteen year old supposed to understand what you’re saying if you’re writing like you are a professional author. That isn’t appealing to me because if I was reading a blog that said written really formal, I might get the impression that this person is snotty, they think they know everything, and that they might be passionate but are way too formal and I would be uninterested in what they have to say. Another one I feel is very important when blogging is “DO make lists”, I feel that if you don’t add a small list here and there then I’m going to be bored with reading these huge paragraphs about something you could have explained in four or five words. I personally skim an article to find important things because it’s easier and takes less time to get the right idea. I loved this one in the article, “Don’t use the same format every time”, I like this one because if you are using the same format and colors and same way of writing then I would feel as if I’m reading the same thing twenty times. These are some of the most important things to remember when blogging and will try to include these when I’m blogging.

  98. The post has that I am responding to that is by ask.com has the rules for blogging. I agree the most with rule 1 which states “Do write about what matters to you.” If you are going to blog then write about something that interest you not a subject you don’t like. Rule number 2 is also very agreeable which is “DON’T take a too-formal tone.” Because you are not writing a book or giving a lecture you are blogging and writing something informative that has a casual tone. I also agree a lot with rule 3 “DO edit yourself.” Because when an article lacks editing it may be irritating to read. Rule number 5 is important because it state that you should spell-check before publishing it’s important for the same reason rule 3 is. Number 7 is also a helpful rule it’s basically stating that most blog readers skim read and to make a list to point out important points. Number 8 says to use a different format every now and then it helps because a format will eventually become boring. Number 9 says to make a creative headline; I like this rule because it helps readers know what a post is about before the start reading it. My favorite is number 10 which pretty much says don’t sweat it these guidelines won’t stop you from blogging and don’t let them stop you.
